NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Miyagino Ward, Sendai City) is pleased to announce that it has compiled data on the usage of Expressway in the Tohoku region managed by our company over the New Year holiday period [8 days from Thursday, December 28, 2023 to Thursday, January 4, 2024].

- The average daily traffic volume in the Tohoku region was 14,200 vehicles/day, approximately 103% compared to the same period in 2020.
- The peak traffic volume was on December 29th (Friday) on Out-bound line and on January 3rd (Wednesday) on the In-bound line.
Congestion
- Traffic jams due to traffic concentration of 5 km or more were 0 times.
Road closure status [Attachment 3] [PDF: 54KB]
- There were eight road closures within the Tohoku Regional Head Office jurisdiction, of which six were due to traffic accidents and two were due to other events (broken down vehicles, etc.).
If heavy snowfall is expected in the Tohoku region in the future, please refrain from going out unnecessarily and non-urgently, and if you have no choice but to use the Expressway, please wear winter tires and carry tire chains.
