NEXCO EAST Morioka Management Office (Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture) replaced the aged reinforced concrete floor slabs with new floor slabs at the Shimogawara Bridge located at the Morioka Interchange (IC) on the E4 Tohoku Expressway. Due to the replacement work, the all-day median strip regulation will start from September 21 (Wednesday), and the all-day one-way alternating traffic regulation will be implemented from October 1 (Saturday).
Due to this regulation, the waiting time will take about 2 minutes. It will take longer than usual to pass through, so please allow yourself plenty of time before heading out. Please note that the waiting time may increase when emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines are running.
Renewal work is necessary for the safe and secure use of Expressway. We will do our best to minimize the inconvenience to our customers, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.

3. 3. Construction details

About 42 years have passed since the opening of the Shimogawara Bridge, which is located at the Morioka Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. Since the concrete floor slabs have deteriorated and the rebar has rusted, it is necessary to carry out drastic measures against aging.
By replacing the existing deteriorated concrete floor slabs with new floor slabs, the highway will be reborn as a safe and comfortable Expressway.

1. The construction section will be restricted to one-way alternate traffic throughout the day for about 200m. Due to this regulation, the waiting time will take about 2 minutes. Please allow plenty of time when you go out.
2. There will be a large lane change before and after the one-way alternating traffic regulation section, so please follow the local information signs and other information.
3. Vehicles for construction work may enter and leave the area around the construction site, so please be careful when traveling ahead.
