NEXCO East Japan Tohoku Regional Head Office (Aoba Ward, Sendai City) is proceeding with emergency repairs for damage to the Expressway caused by the Tohoku Region Pacific Coast Earthquake that occurred at 14:46 on March 11, 2011, and except for some sections, We secure transportation and are used by many customers.

Iwaki Chuo IC-Iwaki Yokura IC of the Iwaki Chuo IC-Joban Tomioka IC section of the Joban Expressway which was closed due to the earthquake and the accident at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture. We will inform you that the temporary restoration during the period has been completed and the suspension of traffic will be lifted.

1. About cancellation of traffic closure of Joban Expressway (plan)

From 10:00 on April 1st, the following sections will be closed.

2. About free measures for vehicles that are evacuated from the evacuation area due to the Fukushima nuclear accident

Regarding the free measures currently being taken, Iwaki Shikura Interchange (IC) will be added by removing the above-mentioned suspension of traffic, and the target toll gates are as follows.

3. Future outlook between Joban Expressway Iwaki Shikura IC and Joban Tomioka IC

This section is included in the evacuation direction area, etc. due to the accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, and it is not possible to start emergency restoration work, and there is currently no prospect of cancellation of suspension of traffic.
