The Uonuma City Interchange Naming Review Council * is preparing to change the name of the Koide Interchange (hereinafter, Kan-Etsu Expressway "IC") on the E17 Kan-Etsu Expressway (hereinafter, the "Kan'etsu Expressway") to "Uonuma IC."
We would like to inform you that at the third council meeting held on August 1, 2024, it was decided that the name change date will be November 1, 2024.

Background to the decision to change the name

This name was chosen based on the original name that was discussed by the Uonuma City Interchange Name Review Council and decided based on the opinions of the Niigata Prefecture Subcommittee of the Hokuriku Block Expressway Sign Appropriation Committee. The decision was made through the prescribed procedures by the Agency.

  • About the Uonuma City Interchange Name Review Council
    The Uonuma City Interchange Name Review Council aims to revitalize economic activity in Uonuma City and promote the region. It was established on May 18, 2020 for the purpose of reconsidering the names of interchanges on Kan-Etsu Expressway located in the city. It is comprised of Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, the Uonuma City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Liaison Council, the Uonuma City Tourism Association, NEXCO EAST and others, with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Niigata Prefectural Police Headquarters serving as observers.
