NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Chuo-ku, Niigata City) will provide services at four highways in Niigata Prefecture and other areas on December 14 (Monday) with the aim of encouraging early replacement of winter tires and enlightening safe driving on winter Expressway We conducted the fifth winter tire installation rate survey in the area (SA) and parking area (PA) this winter.
Overall, 99.6% of customers were wearing winter tires. If you have not installed winter tires yet, please replace them with winter tires or carry a chain as soon as possible. Please drive slowly and safely on snowy roads.
The survey for this winter will end at this time.
1. 1. Outline of winter tire installation rate survey
Survey method
- Surveyor visually confirms the tire type of the vehicle parked in the SA / PA surveyed
- Investigate about 50 units at one location
- Large vehicles are oversized vehicles, large vehicles, medium-sized vehicles, and small vehicles are regular vehicles and light vehicles classified by charge type.
- The number of vehicles surveyed may change depending on how the parking lot is used.

3. 3. Request from NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office
- Please "install winter tires early before snowfall" and "carry a chain".
From now on, the Niigata Prefectural Expressway will enter a full-scale snowfall season. It is very dangerous to drive on snowy roads without winter tires installed, so if you have not installed winter tires yet, please replace them as soon as possible.
Also, in the case of heavy snow, you may be required to attach a chain even for winter tires, so please be sure to carry the chain with you. - Please drive slowly and safely on snowy roads.
At the beginning of the snowfall season, the feeling of driving on snowy roads has not returned, so even with winter tires, it is easy to cause a traffic accident.
Please drive slowly and safely, keeping the distance between vehicles more than usual and keeping the speed modest, and do not perform operations with "sudden" such as "sudden steering wheel", "sudden acceleration", and "sudden braking". - Please "collect information diligently before and during your outing".
The Expressway winter changes suddenly. Even if the starting point is sunny, it may snow at the destination or passing point, so please wear winter tires and carry tire chains.
Also, check road information and weather information frequently before going out or in the service area.
