NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Chuo-ku, Niigata City) E18 Joshin-Etsu Expressway (upper and lower lines) between Shinanomachi Interchange (IC) and Joetsu Junction (JCT) will be closed at night due to 4-lane construction.
We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers, but we ask for your understanding and cooperation as it is a necessary suspension of traffic for the purpose of turning into four lanes.

Outline of road closure work
Joshin-Etsu Expressway Shinanomachi IC-Nakago IC was opened in October 1997, and the Nakago IC-Joetsu JCT was opened in October 1999 with provisional 2-lane operation. After that, in response to the business license change in April 2012, construction of 4 lanes has started, but with this suspension of traffic, the temporary 2 lanes currently used as up and down lanes (hereinafter “opened lanes”) Work will be done to switch to the In-bound lane.
Specifically, we will carry out pavement work for already opened lanes, relocation and renewal of equipment, and work to switch some of the lanes that our customers pass from already opened lanes to newly constructed lanes.
Lane switching
From Tuesday, October 2 Joshin-Etsu Expressway Shinanomachi IC → Arai PA area (Out-bound line), From October 20 (Saturday) Joshin-Etsu Expressway Arai PA → Joetsu Takada IC area (Out-bound line), Some lanes change, respectively. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to passengers traveling on the section, but we ask for your continued efforts to drive safely.
