NEXCO EAST Yuzawa Management Office (Yuzawa Town, Minamiuonuma District, Niigata Prefecture) will hold an infrastructure monitor tour to observe the back side of Japan's longest mountain road tunnel, the Kanetsu Tunnel.
Through the evacuation pits, which you can't normally enter, you will see the tasting of Tanigawa's spring water, the electric room, and the underground ventilation room, and finally climb the 180m-high ventilation tower with stairs. During the tour, a dedicated guide gives detailed explanations, making it ideal for free study during summer vacation. In addition, a "Tunnel Card" that introduces each facility of the Kanetsu Tunnel will be presented to all participants.

Highlight
- The Kanetsu Tunnel is Japan's longest mountain road tunnel, which is about 11km long and passes 15 years until it is completed, passing through Tanigawadake on the border of Niigata and Gunma Prefectures.
- In this tour, we drive through emergency evacuation pits that we cannot normally enter, such as accidents and tunnel fires, and visit underground ventilation stations, electric rooms, and blowers. Climb the vertical shaft (ventilation tower) with stairs.
- We will hand out the tunnel card to all the participants.
Tour conditions
- Those who are physically and physically healthy who can walk and climb spiral stairs by themselves
- Those who have enough physical strength to climb the Kanetsu tunnel vertical shaft (height 180 m, 600 steps, 30 minutes climbing, stairway width 55 cm)
- Those who are in 4th grade or above
Children under junior high school must be accompanied by a guardian. - Those who are not in high places, closed places, or phobias for dark places
- Those who are not pregnant
- Person who can follow the instructions of the dedicated guide and staff
- Please participate in easy-to-move clothes suitable for the tour.
You cannot participate in skirts, sandals, and heels. The stairs of the ventilation tower may be wet with groundwater. - Cooperation in filling out a monitor questionnaire

- By noon the day before the departure date, we will judge the event based on the weather forecast on the day of the departure date, and in the case of non-departure, we will inform the contact information we have obtained in advance. Also, please note that it may be canceled immediately depending on the weather and traffic accidents on the day of departure.
- There are two places for this tour to be gathered and disbanded: 1. Echigo-Yuzawa Station West Exit and 2. Dotaru PA (In-bound Line).

Please meet at the Echigo Yuzawa Station West Exit Rotary. We will pick you up from the Echigo Yuzawa Station to the Kanetsu Tunnel by car (free of charge). - Customers gathering at Tsucharu PA (In-bound line)
Please gather directly at Tsucharu PA (In-bound line (Yuzawa ⇒ water surface)). You cannot enter from the general road to Dotaru PA (In-bound line). Toll charges for Expressway will be borne by the customer.
