NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Chuo-ku, Niigata City) is Expressway in Niigata during the Golden Week (GW) period from April 28 (Fri) to May 7 (Sun). We have summarized the traffic congestion forecast. This year's GW period is from May 3 (Wednesday) to 6 (Saturday) on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway Myoko Kogen Interchange (IC)-Joetsu Junction (JCT) up and down line, causing more than 5km of traffic concentration. We predict that congestion will occur.
To alleviate the congestion, please use distributed usage outside the hours when traffic is concentrated.
Congestion forecast for 1 GW
- At Expressway in Niigata Prefecture, the upper and lower lines between Joshinetsu Expressway Myoko Kogen IC and Joetsu JCT will run on May 3 (Wed)-6 (Sat). More than 5km due to traffic concentration at peak Is predicting congestion.

2 Initiatives for congestion measures
Regarding congestion measures, we plan to implement various measures at the main line and rest facilities, taking into consideration the congestion forecast and past congestion conditions.
In addition, in the past congestion period, small cars stopped in the parking lots for large cars, which caused inconvenience to large cars, and we plan to secure parking spaces for large cars.
