NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Nishi-ku, Niigata city, Regional Head Office: Yoshio Shiraishi) is congested on the Expressway in Niigata prefecture during the Obon period (14 days from Thursday, August 6 to Wednesday, August 19, 2009) We have summarized the places that are expected to occur and countermeasures.
When using the Expressway, please refer to the comfortable drive forecast and take note of the decentralized use of the Expressway, such as shifting the day and time of use, and use it to make a comfortable travel plan.
A new Expressway toll discount has started on Saturday, March 28th. Traffic trends are different from before, and the location, time, and scale of congestion may change. Please use the road traffic information that you can get before going out, while driving or taking a break, and use it for safe driving.

2 Prediction of traffic jam during the Obon season
We predict that more traffic will occur than usual.
We predict a 40km traffic jam from Joshinetsu Road to Hokuriku Road.

We predict that there will be 30km of traffic congestion on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway. For customers traveling between Tokyo (South of Fujioka JCT) and Toyama/Ishikawa (West of Joetsu JCT), please use the latest road traffic information and consider a route to bypass the Kan-Etsu Expressway.
3 Rest facility where congestion is expected
It is expected that the rest facilities of Joshinetsu Expressway, Hokuriku Expressway and Ban-Etsu Expressway Expressway will be crowded.
Please note that even rest areas not listed in Attachment 3 are expected to be more crowded than usual.

5 Schedule for Obon congestion

- Relieve darkness and oppressive feeling by increasing the illumination of tunnel lighting

- Secure parking for large vehicles
