East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
Niigata Regional Head Office
Today (June 15th), from Niigata Prefectural Police and Miyagi Prefectural Police, at the Hokuriku Expressway Niigata Nishi Daiichi Toll Gate and Sanriku Expressway Naruse Oku Matsushima Main Line Toll Gate, etc. It was announced that an illegal passer-by who had repeatedly violated the police was arrested on June 13 for violating the Road Transport Vehicle Law and the Road Maintenance Special Measures Law and sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. has been working on "countermeasures against illegal traffic" for a long time, but since the suspect was repeatedly breaking through at the toll booth, he reported to the Niigata Prefectural Police Headquarters Expressway Traffic Police Corps. However, these were the triggers that led to this arrest.
Up until now, we have been working with a strong stance of “do not allow unauthorized traffic” by utilizing unauthorized traffic surveillance cameras, but now we are suspected of conducting malicious malicious traffic that could lead to serious accidents. We believe that the arrest of a person is significant not only in terms of ensuring the fairness of toll burdens and deterring illegal traffic, but also in terms of safety.
In the future, we will take a resolute attitude so as not to damage the trust of our customers in the case of unauthorized traffic like this case, and we will actively cooperate with police investigations to tackle unauthorized traffic.
In addition, the suspect will be charged a surcharge (twice the amount exempted) to the illegally exempted toll, and will be charged three times the illegally exempted toll.
