East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
Niigata Regional Head Office
Today (October 3), the Niigata Prefectural Police arrested two illegal passers who had repeatedly broken through at the Hokuriku Expressway Niigata Nishi Daiichi Toll Gate etc. without paying the toll, and the Road Transport Vehicle Law It was announced that it was sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office on suspicion of violation and violation of the Road Maintenance Special Measures Law.
The two people who were arrested hid and removed the license plate, followed the preceding vehicle unrelated to the two names, and performed a dangerous run with little distance between vehicles, repeatedly breaking through the ETC lane and passing illegally. It was free of charge.
The Road Maintenance Special Measures Law was amended in accordance with the privatization of road related 4 public corporations on October 1, 2005, and the toll booth was breached in violation of the traffic method (authorized by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) established by the Expressway company. Criminal penalties will be imposed on drivers of cars and other vehicles that pass by.
East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. has been working on "countermeasures against illegal traffic" for a long time, but since the suspect was repeatedly breaking through at the toll booth, he reported to the Niigata Prefectural Police Headquarters Expressway Traffic Police Corps. However, this led to the arrest this time.
To date, we have been working with a strong stance of “no unauthorized traffic” by utilizing unauthorized traffic surveillance cameras and other means so as not to damage customers' trust in the toll road business.
Recently, the arrest of a suspect who committed a dangerous and malicious toll that could lead to a serious accident is significant not only from the perspective of ensuring the fairness of toll burdens and deterring unauthorized traffic, but also from a safety perspective. I think that there is.
In the future, we will continue to take a resolute attitude against unauthorized traffic such as this case and actively cooperate with police investigations to tackle unauthorized traffic.
