Today (November 26), the Niigata Prefectural Police attached a counterfeit license plate at the Niigata West No. 1 Toll Gate on the Hokuriku Expressway and repeatedly broke through forcibly without paying the toll and arrested on November 8. It was announced that an unauthorized person was sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office on the charges of violating the Road Transport Vehicle Act and the Road Maintenance Special Measures Act.

The Road Maintenance Special Measures Law was amended in accordance with the privatization of four road-related public corporations on October 1, 2005, and the toll booth was breached in violation of the traffic method (authorized by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) established by the Expressway company. Criminal penalties will be imposed on drivers of cars and other vehicles that pass by.

At East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd., we have been working on "countermeasures against illegal traffic" for a long time, and since the suspect in this case repeatedly broke through forcibly at the toll booth, in response to the revision of the law, Niigata Prefectural Police Headquarters Expressway This was the opportunity to report to the Traffic Police Corps, which triggered this arrest.

This is the first case of arrest in Niigata Prefecture due to a forcible breakthrough.

Until now, we have been working with a strong stance of “don't allow unauthorized traffic” by using unauthorized traffic surveillance cameras, etc. so as not to damage customers' trust in the toll road business. We believe that the arrest of a suspect who has committed illegal traffic will ensure fairness in toll charges and prevent unauthorized traffic.

In the future, we will continue to take a resolute attitude against unauthorized traffic such as this case and actively cooperate with police investigations to tackle unauthorized traffic.
