Regarding embezzlement by a former employee of a group company

NEXCO EAST NEXCO-Toll Kitakantou Co., Ltd. (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture; President and Chief Executive Officer: Osamu Jokata) has confirmed that an employee (at the time) working at a tollgate in its jurisdiction has embezzled cash from the tollgate, as follows.

In response to this fact, NEXCO-Toll Kitakantou Co., Ltd., Ltd. dismissed the two former employees on disciplinary grounds, effective May 29, 2024.

We sincerely apologize for causing a great deal of inconvenience to our customers and all other parties concerned, and causing a situation in which we have lost credibility.

We, along with our group companies, take this incident very seriously and will work to strengthen measures to prevent a recurrence and regain the trust of our customers.

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, it was discovered that 320,000 yen was missing in cash at the Nagano toll gate, and after an investigation, a former employee of a group company who worked at the toll gate in question admitted to embezzlement.
[Case 2]
On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, it was discovered that 2,235,040 yen was missing in cash at the Saku toll gate, and after an investigation, a former employee of a group company who worked at the toll gate admitted to embezzlement.

In both cases, the embezzled cash has been fully returned by the former employees. We are currently consulting with the police regarding this embezzlement case.
