On Sunday, June 16, 2024, NEXCO EAST Nagano Construction Office (Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture) will open the site of the Kitanomaki construction project, where large-scale rock removal is being carried out on the E18 Joshin-Etsu Expressway in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture.
We would like to inform you that we are looking for people who wish to participate on the day.

What is Kitano Maki Construction?

This work involves removing a 70m-high boulder located above the Kitanomaki Tunnel (Kitnomaki, Matsuida-machi, Gunma Prefecture) between the Matsuida-Myogi Interchange (hereinafter "IC") and the Usui-Karuizawa IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway. During the Joshin-Etsu Expressway open day, visitors can ride the construction monorail and tour the excavation site and heavy machinery, including a huge crane. Kitanomaki Construction Site Open House Details and Application Guidelines

①Date Sunday, June 16, 2024: Two sessions in total, one in the morning and one in the afternoon
②Venue Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture (see next page)
③Participation fee Free (Participants will be responsible for transportation costs to the meeting place.)
④ Gathering JR Yokokawa Station (Morning course: Meet at 9:30, Afternoon course: Meet at 14:00)
  • This is the meeting time assuming trains arriving at Yokokawa Station at 9:22 and 13:57.
⑤Itinerary The trip is expected to take 3 to 4 hours, including travel from the meeting point to the construction site.
(Meeting place) JR Yokokawa Station → Kitanomaki Construction Site Office (Construction overview explanation, etc.)
→ Kitanomaki Construction Site Tour → (Disband) JR Yokokawa Station
  • Transportation (chartered bus) from the meeting point to the dismissal point will be provided by the organizer.
⑥ Capacity of each course Morning: 18 groups, 36 people Afternoon: 18 groups, 36 people
  • Applications are limited to two people per group.
  • If there are many applications, it will be a lottery.

Please read and agree to the application conditions and important notes before applying and participating.
  • [Application requirements]
    • Applications are limited to elementary school students and above. Applications from elementary school students or above but under 18 years of age must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older.
    • Please refrain from participating if you are physically unable to ascend or descend construction stairs.
  • [Major points to note]
  • 1. Cancellation etc.
    • Due to bad weather or other reasons, the organizers may change (cancel) all or part of the content without prior notice at their discretion.
    • In the above cases, NEXCO EAST (Secretariat) will contact the confirmed participant (representative), but the participant will be responsible for any expenses incurred as a result of the change (such as transportation costs to the meeting place and accommodation costs).
    2. Dress code etc.
    • Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes on the day. Please note that you may get dirty.
    • Participants must wear on-site safety equipment, such as helmets, provided by the organizers.
    3. 3. Other
    • Media representatives may accompany the event for reporting purposes, and the organizers may take photographs of the event for public relations purposes.
    • Taking photos and videos is permitted except in areas where photography is prohibited, so please follow the instructions of the staff. In addition, when posting to social media, if other participants are in the photo, please be careful to handle it in a way that does not identify them.
    • Drinking alcohol (or being under the influence of alcohol) and smoking are prohibited during the tour.
    • Restroom facilities will be available at each venue, however some of them will be basic.

  • Applications will be accepted via the special application form on the NEXCO EAST website.
  • From Wednesday, May 8, 2024, 14:00 to Wednesday, May 22, 2024, 23:59

⑨Participation decision

  • After the application deadline, we will contact selected participants (representatives) by Wednesday, May 29th.
  • In the event of a large number of applications, we will hold a lottery and contact only the winner (representative).
  • We will not contact those who are unsuccessful in the lottery.
⑩Other
  • The personal information you register in relation to your application for and operation of the site tour will be managed strictly in accordance with our "Basic Policy on Personal Information Protection." The personal information collected will not be used for purposes other than those related to the operation of the site tour and will be promptly disposed of after the site tour has ended.
  • Participation is limited to those who can understand the verbal explanations and guidance (in the event of an evacuation, etc.) given by staff at each venue in Japanese.
  • For the sake of safety, please follow the instructions of staff during the tour. If staff deem your actions inappropriate from a safety perspective, they may refuse your participation or cancel the site opening on the day.
  • Please note that you will not be able to leave the site midway.
  • Applications for both the morning and afternoon sessions shown in ⑤ are accepted, but participants will only be selected for one course. If the same pair applies multiple times in each course, or if any inappropriate applications are found, such as false registrations, all of the applications will be invalidated.
  • On the day of the event, we may ask you to present identification documents etc. to verify your identity.
  • The right to participate (win) cannot be transferred to a third party, and if such a transfer is confirmed, the right will be invalidated.
