The Kanto Regional Head Office East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NEXCO NEXCO EAST) and the Tokyo Regional Head Office and Hachioji Regional Head Office of Central Nippon Expressway Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as NEXCO CENTRAL) are in charge of the operation of Expressway in the Kanto-Koshinetsu region and Shizuoka Prefecture. Year-end and New Year period [8 days from Thursday, December 28, 2023 to 2024] We would like to inform you that we have compiled a traffic congestion forecast (traffic congestion of 10km or more) for the area.
This traffic congestion forecast is based on past traffic congestion records and recent traffic conditions, but the actual traffic situation may differ from the forecast due to accidents or weather, so please check the latest traffic information before setting off.
In addition, each Expressway company provides various tools, including its official website (for details, [Attachment-3] [PDF: 617KB] Please make use of this information when using Expressway.
In addition, Holiday discounts do not apply from December 30th (Saturday) to January 3rd (Wednesday) Please be careful.

◆Please check the traffic congestion forecast and change the day or time of​ ​use to avoid traffic jams.

Congestion on Out-bound direction occurs mainly in the morning,
Especially on December 29th (Friday), 30th (Saturday) and January 2nd (Tuesday).
Traffic jams in In-bound direction occur mainly during the day and at night.
Especially on January 2nd (Tuesday) and 3rd (Wednesday),
We predict frequent traffic jams.

1. 1. Congestion forecast

(1) Number of traffic jams over 10km

  1. Out-bound includes "outer loop" on the C3 Gaikan Expressway and C4 Ken-o Expressway (Ken-O Road), and "eastbound" on the E50 Kita-Kita-Kanto Expressway. For the C3 Gaikan Expressway, the direction (clockwise) toward Takaya JCT is called the “outer loop,” and for the C4 Ken-o Expressway (Ken-O Road), the direction (clockwise) toward the Daiei JCT is called the “outer loop.” and On the E50 Kita-Kanto Expressway, the direction toward Mito Minami IC is "eastbound."
  2. In-bound includes "inner loop" on C3 Gaikan Expressway and C4 Ken-o Expressway (Ken-Ken-O Road), and "westbound" on E50 Kita-Kita-Kanto Expressway. For the C3 Gaikan Expressway, the direction toward Oizumi JCT (counterclockwise) is called “inner loop,” and for the C4 Ken-o Expressway (Ken-O Road), the direction toward Chigasaki JCT (counterclockwise) is called “inner loop.” ”. A comparison of the number of traffic jams with FY 2020 (last year) is as follows. Please note that the FY2020 results include traffic jams caused by accidents and other causes.

2. How to obtain road traffic information

3. Customer Service Efforts (Countermeasures against Congestion)

We will work to strengthen customer services, such as alerting drivers to rear-end collisions at the tail end of traffic jams, deploying parking lot marshals at rest facilities, installing temporary toilets, and securing parking spaces for large vehicles (for details, see [Attachment 4] [PDF: 679KB】Reference).

Four. Congestion in the direction of CA Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line Expressway Out-bound

During the year-end and New Year period, we predict that congestion will increase on the CA Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line Expressway to the Metropolitan Expressway [B] Wangan Line and [K6] Kawasaki Line (for details, see [Attachment 5] [PDF: 437KB]).

Five. Holiday discounts are not applied during the year-end and New Year period.

To avoid intensifying traffic congestion during the year-end and New Year period, holiday discounts will not be applied even if you use the service between December 30th (Saturday) and January 3rd (Wednesday), which are eligible for holiday discounts.
