NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture) conducted a survey of winter tire installation status (Part 1) has been implemented.
The average installation rate of winter tires was 54.7% for small vehicles, 91.0% for large vehicles, and 64.2% for all vehicle types. Compared to the survey conducted during the same period last year (conducted on December 8 and 12, 2021), the installation rate for small vehicles increased, but the installation rate for large vehicles decreased in both the Tokyo metropolitan area and snowfall areas. In addition, about half of the customers in compact cars did not have the system installed. (For details of the survey, see Attachment-1 [PDF: 238KB])
It is against the law to drive on snowy or frozen roads with normal tires.
In addition, even in the metropolitan area where it usually does not snow, roads may freeze and snow may fall.
