On the Tokyo Outer Ring Road (Misato Minami IC-Takaya JCT), where the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. are jointly operating,

• Gaikan Expressway: Misato Minami IC-Takaya JCT (extension 15.5km)
• National Road 298: National Road 6 to National Road 357 (extension 11.4km)

Will open on June 2, 2018.

The effects expected from this opening are as follows.

[Contributes to the improvement of logistics productivity by facilitating transportation in the city center]

• About 60% of the outer ring has been completed, and four radiant roads (East Kanto Expressway · Joban Expressway · Tohoku Expressway · Kan-Etsu Expressway) are connected.
• Travel time from Higashi Kanto Expressway to Kan-Etsu Expressway, Tohoku Expressway, Joban Expressway is reduced by about 18 to 26 minutes.

[Alleviation of traffic congestion in areas along the outer ring and improvement of safety of community roads]

• With the opening of National Highway No. 298, the area between Ichikawa and Matsudo will be connected for the first time by a four-lane road, alleviating traffic congestion in the areas along the road and contributing to improving the safety of residential roads.

[Promotion of wide-area tourism exchange]

• The time required from Tsukuba to the large-scale customer attraction facility in the Gulf area is reduced by about 18 minutes.

• The first 4-lane road (National Route 298) between Ichikawa and Matsudo opened. Traffic will switch from the surrounding roads to National Highway 298, contributing to the improvement of the local traffic environment.
