NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Taito-ku, Tokyo) is being developed as a measure against traffic congestion on Keiyo Road, part of the Anagawa (middle) interchange (IC) to Kaizuka IC. We would like to inform you that we have started operation of the section connecting to the Kaizuka IC exit for the completed section.

In addition, we will inform you of the congestion situation for about one month after installing the additional lane for the In-bound line that started operation in April.

3) Business overview
Keiyo Road Anagawa IC-Kaizuka IC has a daily traffic volume of about 100,000 vehicles, and traffic congestion is chronically caused during the morning and evening commuting hours and weekends during leisure days. Is also occurring.

As a traffic safety measure to alleviate these traffic jams and reduce traffic accidents during traffic jams, we are developing an "additional lane" that connects acceleration/deceleration lanes between ICs.

By installing additional lanes, the traffic capacity of the entire section will increase, and congestion due to lane changes when merging from the entrance IC to the main lane or exiting to the exit IC will be reduced. As a result, the flow of traffic on the main line will be smooth, traffic congestion will be alleviated, and the punctuality and safety of traffic will be improved.

With the start of some operations this time, the outflow vehicle from Kaizuka IC will use the additional lane to reduce congestion at the Kaizuka IC exit and reduce the speed of vehicles traveling on the main line, thus reducing congestion on the main line. It is expected to have the effect of improving driving performance and safety.

4) Future additional lane maintenance plans
Keiyo Road (Out-bound line) Anagawa (middle) IC-Kaizuka IC overall operation of additional lanes, we will proceed with construction with the goal of spring 2016. Also, in the section where the operation of the additional lane has started this time, we plan to carry out maintenance of the paved road surface and construction of road incidental facilities until July this year.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

5) Requests to customers who use the additional lane (diversion lane of Kaizuka IC exit)

  • Customers spilling at Kaizuka IC should use the additional lane (diversion lane) as soon as possible.
  • The maximum speed of the additional lane is 60km/h. Drive at a safe speed.
  • We will continue to implement traffic congestion countermeasure work. When traveling in the construction section, please be careful of traffic restrictions and reduced shoulders.

2 Additional lane effect on the In-bound line

1) Additional lane maintenance effect for the In-bound section [Anakawa (East) IC-Kaizuka IC]
The status of traffic congestion between Anagawa (East) IC and Kaizuka IC on the In-bound line, which started operation of the additional lane prior to April 24, 2014, is as follows.

[Congestion status for 28 days from 4/24 (Thurs) to 5/21 (Wed) since the start of operation]
(1) Traffic jam situation

  • At the moment, There is no congestion on weekdays. Note that, The total number of traffic jams is halved Did.
  • Overall traffic congestion (congestion volume) decreased by about 30% Did.

  • 1 2012 is 28 days from H24.4.26 (Thurs) to H24.5.23 (Wed)
  • 2 In 2013, traffic conditions are different due to the effect of traffic regulation due to additional lane installation work, so comparison is made with 2012.

(2) Required transit time

  • By installing additional lanes, the traffic volume at the bottleneck part, which was the cause of congestion, increased, improving the traveling speed of the entire congestion section, It takes about 10 minutes to get from Ichihara IC to Miyanogi JCT Did.
