NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Taito-ku, Tokyo), Before “Family Week” (November 17 “Family Day”) from November 10 to 23, 1200 fathers in their 30s and 50s with children who lived in the Tokyo metropolitan area (Tokyo, Kanagawa prefecture, Chiba prefecture, Saitama prefecture, 1 prefecture and 3 prefectures) and made a family trip by car on a Expressway July to September. We have conducted a "Family Travel Survey," and will report the results of the survey.

Number of family trips this year, the most enjoyable trips in July to September (Expressway, using cars)
- Total expenses for the most enjoyable trips from July to September: 80,000 yen on average (42% for 50,000 yen or less, 33% for over 50,000 yen to 100,000 yen)
YoY increase/decrease: While the year-on-year equivalent was 61%, which was the majority, the number of people who increased (25%) was more than that who decreased (14%). - Number of nights in Japan at least 1 night: 2 times or more 58%.
★ Young dads (66s in their 30s), third graders (68-69%), and households actively raising children (66%).
Activeness for family trips seems to be strong in proportion to young father (30's) and active participation in household chores.
Reasons to choose a car for a family trip, essential things to make it fun and comfortable
- Reasons for choosing a car (50% or more):
(1) Easy to carry luggage 82%, (2) Easy to change plans 74%, (3) Travel costs 57%★ If you have children up to the 3rd grade of elementary school, there is a strong tendency to "do not disturb the surroundings even if you make a noise", and if you are a junior high school student or above, "moving costs can be suppressed".
- "I feel a sense of unity as a family" Transportation: Cars are 2.6 times faster than trains.

52%, (5) Congestion prediction check 50%★The father in his 50s is not overwhelmed by the inspection of the car body and the preparation for information gathering.
- Devices to make family trips in a car fun and comfortable (top 5 items):
(1) Listening to children's favorite songs 46%, (2) Keeping drinks and sweets for children 38%, (3) Listen to father's favorite songs 34% (4) Frequently listening to SA/PA 29%, (5) Don't run out of drinks and sweets for mothers 28%★Children have priority on how to spend time in the car. SA/PA also contributed.
The good thing about the car is that it has three "easiest" points: carrying luggage, changing plans, saving travel costs, and a sense of family unity.
