2 Business overview

Kan-Etsu Expressway In-bound The area around the Honjo Kodama IC is one of the points where heavy traffic jams occur during periods of heavy traffic, such as summer congestion, large holidays, and holiday seasons. The main cause of this is the slow speed on the loose In-bound slope in front of the IC.

Therefore, the exit lane of Honjo Kodama IC (In-bound to line) In-bound extending approximately 1.8km to just before the slope, In-bound by increasing the number of lanes in the vicinity of slope, it is intended to achieve the relaxation of congestion.

4 Causes of traffic congestion near Honjo Kodama IC and remedial measures

In-bound loose Honjo Kodama near the IC of the line In-bound for that is the slope (0.5% gradient), by which the speed is reduced to unnoticed, the time a lot of traffic volume has become a point at which a large traffic jam occurs ..

In order to alleviate this congestion, the exit lane of Honjo Kodama IC (In-bound the line), from the current of about 0.1km In-bound thing that extends to about 1.8km until just before the slope starts.

When the exit lane is extended, the cars flowing out of the Honjo Kodama IC will start traveling in the exit lane before the speed decreases, so the congestion of the main lane (three lanes on each side) is reduced and the degree of speed decrease is also small. Therefore, you can expect relief of traffic congestion.

In addition, in order to increase the effect of traffic congestion reduction by extending the exit lane, we will install a warning sign in front and a sign for the exit lane.

5 Effect of improvement after countermeasures

Fujioka Junction is occurring not only at Kan-Etsu Expressway but also due to the congestion due to the congestion relief near the Honjo Kodama IC on the In-bound line. It is expected that the traffic congestion on the Joshinetsu Expressway (In-bound line) headed by (JCT) will be eased.

Image image of the time required during peak traffic hours from Joshinetsu Expressway Yoshii IC to Kan-Etsu Expressway Arashiyama Ogawa IC

From Joshinetsu road Yoshii I via Fujioka JCT Kan-Etsu Expressway big congestion point between up to Arashiyama Ogawa IC (about 42km) is, Fujioka JCT (Kan-Etsu Expressway impact of congestion), Honjo Kodama IC (In-bound hill) and Garden IC (In-bound hill - However, due to the extension of the exit lane this time, congestion will be alleviated, and the time required for this section during peak congestion hours will be from 76 minutes to 59 minutes, which is expected to shorten the traffic by about 17 minutes.

For the time being, due to changes in traffic flow due to the relief of traffic congestion near Honjo Kodama IC, the traffic congestion near Hanazono IC, which is the traffic congestion point, will increase slightly from the present, but in the future, additional lanes near Hanazono IC When the installation work is completed, traffic congestion is expected to be alleviated.

6 Congestion countermeasure project for Kan-Etsu Expressway In-bound line currently under construction (lane expansion)
