NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office and NEXCO CENTRAL Tokyo Regional Head Office /Hachioji Regional Head Office are in the Bon festival period [August 5, 2010 (Thursday) to August 18, 2010 (Wednesday) 14 days] Kanto Koshin region and Shizuoka prefecture We have summarized the trends and countermeasures for traffic congestion (10 km or more) due to traffic concentration that is expected to occur on the Expressway.
ETC holiday special discounts will be implemented this year as well, so we expect that there will be more congestion as well as last year's festival. Please refer to this traffic congestion forecast to shift the departure time before and after the time when the peak of traffic congestion is predicted, so please use it to create a comfortable travel plan.
1 Congestion prediction
(1) Trend of traffic congestion
Out-bound direction August 12 (Thursday) to 14 (Saturday), In-bound is expected to face traffic jam on August 14 (Saturday) to 16 days (month) is concentrated. In addition, it is predicted that a large amount of traffic congestion will occur on the 7th (Sat) to 8th (Sun).

3 Major rest facilities where congestion is expected
During the Obon season, congestion is expected at rest facilities such as service areas due to the increase in traffic. (Attachment-3, 4 [PDF:124KB]) Avoid congestion and take an early break.
4 Customer service initiatives (congestion measures)
Since it is expected to be as crowded as the Bon Festival last year, we will work to strengthen our customer services such as measures to alert the rear-end collision at the end of the traffic jam, staff parking lots in the service area, and provision of temporary toilets. 5 Plan to secure parking for large vehicles
The rest facilities that are planned to secure large-sized vehicle parking spaces during the Bon Festival are summarized in Attachments 7-9 [PDF: 120KB], so please use them for an efficient driving plan.
