3 Request to customers

Since Expressway and service areas are expected to be very crowded at this time, the East/Middle/West Japan Expressway Co., Ltd. calls on customers to do the following from the viewpoints of avoiding traffic congestion and traffic safety.

  • (1) Make a comfortable travel plan with reference to traffic congestion prediction
By utilizing the traffic jam prediction information and shifting the departure time before and after the time when the peak of traffic jam is predicted, you can avoid the traffic jam and move. It also helps alleviate congestion on the entire road.
  • (2) Take a moderate break and drive safely
Fatigue tends to accumulate when driving at night or for long hours. Take appropriate breaks in the service area and try to drive safely.
  • (3) Refuel and toilet early
Please refuel and use the toilet as soon as possible before using the Expressway or before traffic jams.
  • (4) In the unlikely event of an accident or breakdown, immediately evacuate to a safe place.
If you stop due to a traffic accident or breakdown, staying on the road is very dangerous. If you notify a following vehicle of danger by using a hazard lamp, triangular stop display plate, flaming cylinder, etc., be careful of passing vehicles and immediately evacuate to a safe place such as outside the guardrail. Also, please make an emergency phone call.
  • (5) Be careful of a rear-end collision at the end of a traffic jam
When a traffic jam occurs, a rear-end collision is likely to occur in the traffic jam or at the end of the traffic jam. If you are in a traffic jam, use a hazard lamp to signal the car behind you, etc. to prevent a rear-end collision.
  • (6) Wear your seat belt in the back seat
The seat belt softens the lifeline and the impact on the body during a collision. Please wear a seat belt even in the back seat.
  • (7) For customers using ETC
When using the ETC lane at the toll booth, please ensure that you have a sufficient distance between vehicles and a safe speed (approx. 20 km/hour is a standard).
Also, before using, make sure that the ETC card is securely inserted in the in-vehicle device.
