NEXCO EAST Muroran Management Office (Muroran City) has joined the social welfare corporation "Taiyo-no-en" (Date City) and Hokkaido Otani Muroran High School (Muroran) as part of its participation in the "Fukushima Himawari Satochika Project", which supports reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake. In collaboration with high school student volunteers from the city), we will harvest sunflower seeds at the E5 Do-O Expressway (Hokkaido Expressway) Usuzan Service Area (SA).
The Group is revitalizing the local community as a CSR activity that makes use of the Expressway business. This time, the “Takfuku cooperation” promoted by NEXCO EAST * As a result, we will consider the Expressway as a resource for regional revitalization and aim to contribute to regional revitalization by Large employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

2 Participation in the Fukushima Sunflower Foster Parents Project
- Since 2018, the Muroran Management Office has participated in the Fukushima Sunflower Foster Parents Project and has cultivated sunflower at Usuzan SA.
- This project is an activity aimed at supporting reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake, purchasing sunflower seeds from Fukushima Prefecture's welfare facility for people with disabilities, harvesting seeds from flowers grown in that seed and sending them to Fukushima prefecture. By growing seeds again, etc., sunflower flowers will be a symbol of reconstruction.
- Last year, about 120,000 seeds were harvested at Usuzan SA, and about 90,000 of them were donated.

At NEXCO EAST, the efforts of "Expressway" and "welfare" in cooperation are called "takafuku (happiness) cooperation".
