NEXCO EAST Muroran Administration Office (Muroran City) signs the "Tsunami Emergency Evacuation Agreement" with Yakumo Town as well as the following signing ceremony in order to secure the evacuation route of the local residents when the tsunami strikes.
This is predicted by the Hokkaido tsunami inundation forecast along the Pacific coast of Hokkaido, which is predicted to be inundated on Route 5.There is a possibility that the evacuation site in the Yakumo-cho Kuroiwa area will be isolated after the tsunami strikes. Therefore, it is possible to move to the main line from the evacuation site using the inspection stairs and evacuate to the city.
