Notice of Completion of Comprehensive Safety Measures for Regional Head Office in Hokkaido Office

NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Sapporo Atsubetsu-ku, Regional Head Office length: Hiromi Yamamoto) is, to avoid such contact accident of the toll booth clerk and the vehicle at the time of ETC lane crossing, as you'll find way the ETC lane with peace of mind to our customers, Since February 2008, we have implemented comprehensive tollgate safety measures.

We are pleased to inform you that the measures have been completed successfully.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation over the long term.

1. Installation of safety passage

   We installed underground passages and rooftop passages to avoid contact accidents when the toll gate staff crosses the ETC lane.

2. Relocation of ETC lane

   ETC lanes have been relocated as toll gates that can avoid crossing ETC lanes by relocating ETC lanes.

3. Automatic display of lane closing when ETC lane stopped vehicle occurs (anti-collision prevention measures)

   To ensure the safety of our customers, we have taken measures to automatically display "Closed" on the ETC display when the vehicle stops due to a communication error in the ETC lane.

4. Installation of ETC lane circuit breaker by remote control

   In order to make it easier to tell customers that the ETC lane is closed, we have installed a remote-controlled lane breaker with improved visibility.

When using the ETC lane, please use the lane marked as "ETC only" or "ETC/general".
Please do not enter when the ETC lane is closed as it is dangerous.

1. ETC is not available if the ETC lane at the entrance is closed.
   Please pick up a ticket on the general lane.
2. If you collect a ticket at the entrance, you cannot use ETC at the exit.
   Please stop at the general lane at the exit toll gate and hand the ticket and your ETC card to the toll gate staff. Tolls can be paid with an ETC card.
3. If you are traveling with various ETC time zone discounts, please ask the exit toll gate staff.
4. ETC is not available if the ETC radio runs at the entrance and the ETC lane at the exit is closed
   Please stop in the general lane at the exit toll gate and hand your ETC card to the toll gate staff.
5. Points for mileage registration will be added in the same way as when running ETC.
6. To apply the discount for persons with disabilities, please present the "Disability Certificate" to the staff at the exit toll gate.
