East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
Hokkaido Regional Head Office
The Hokkaido Police Department today announced on January 22nd that Do-O Expressway Sapporo Toll Gate has sent documents to an illegal passer-by who ran away without paying a toll fee, alleging violation of the Road Improvement Special Measures Law*.
The document inspection this time was triggered by the fact that the suspect broke through the ETC lane at the toll booth and the Company notified the Hokkaido police.
This is the first case in Hokkaido where an ETC lane was arrested due to a forcible breakthrough.
We believe that the documents sent by a suspect who has committed malicious traffic will ensure fairness in the payment of charges and prevent unauthorized traffic.
We have always been using “unauthorized traffic” to take a strong stance by using unauthorized traffic monitoring cameras and other measures so as not to damage customers' trust in the toll road business.
We will continue to take a resolute attitude against unauthorized traffic and will actively cooperate with police investigations to tackle unauthorized traffic.
- Due to the revision of the Road Improvement Special Measures Law on October 1, 2005, for drivers of cars and other vehicles that pass through toll gates in violation of the method of passage (authorized by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) established by the Expressway company. Therefore, criminal penalties will be imposed.
