NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has invested in BONX Inc., its first investment in a startup company, as part of the accelerator program "DraPla Innovation Lab," which has been running since 2021.

Background of this initiative

At the "DraPla Innovation Lab," we aim to create businesses that will realize next-generation Expressway services, revitalize local areas, and solve social issues by verifying technologies and business models with companies that have new technologies and service ideas, including startups. If, as a result of verifying technologies with startups, we find that the technologies are beneficial and are expected to have affinity and synergy with our business, we will deepen our business collaboration through investment.
As a result of technical verification, BONX Inc., a company selected for the first phase of the DraPla Innovation Lab that supports on-site digital transformation using voice devices, was selected as the investment target for the first project and BONX was invested in.

What BONX Inc. and NEXCO EAST aim to achieve

BONX Inc. plans and sells hearable devices such as “BONX BOOST” and the application “BONX WORK.” With features such as completely hands-free calling using speech detection technology, call transcription, and live streaming, BONX is working to improve safety and productivity in a variety of workplaces, including construction sites, factories, retail stores, and accommodation facilities.

With this investment as an opportunity, NEXCO EAST will utilize the know-how it has accumulated in the construction, maintenance, management, and operation of Expressway such as the sophistication of safety management, operational efficiency, and on-site environment, to promote on-site DX through solutions that link images, voice, and AI to more accurately reflect on-site needs. By doing so, NEXCO East Japan will work to solve social issues by supporting the promotion of DX not only in its own company but also in various industries and business types, which are expected to become increasingly important in the future.
