NEXCO EAST NEXCO CENTRAL / / JB Honsha / Japan Highway Traffic Information Center (JHTC) announces the traffic congestion forecast at during NEXCO WEST Expressway Golden Week (11 days from Friday, April 26, 2024 to Monday, May 6, 2024) due to traffic concentration (traffic congestion of 10 km or more).
In order to alleviate traffic congestion, we ask for your cooperation in diversifying your use of the site by changing the days and times of your visit.
1. 1. Congestion forecast
Number of traffic jams over 10km
Total of up and down lines: 386 times (4/26-5/6)
Prediction of particularly long traffic jams for each company

Please note that traffic congestion predictions are based on past traffic congestion records and recent traffic conditions, but may differ from actual traffic conditions due to traffic disturbances such as accidents, weather conditions, etc. Check the latest road traffic information before you depart and during your trip. Comparison with last year (reference)
The number of traffic jams this year is expected to increase compared to last year, as there were many people refraining from going out during Golden Week last year (Reiwa 5) due to stormy weather. Please note that last year's results include traffic jams due to accidents and other causes.
- The number of traffic jams over 10km includes the number of traffic jams over 30km.
- The forecast for 2020 is calculated for 11 days from Friday, April 26, 2020 to Monday, May 6, 2020.
- Results for 2020 are calculated for 11 days from Thursday, April 27, 2020 to Sunday, May 7, 2020.
2. Key points for alleviating traffic congestion
- Be careful of slowing down in areas where warnings are issued, such as when In-bound!
- While driving, please avoid stepping on the brakes unnecessarily and maintain a sufficient following distance!
- Please refrain from changing lanes recklessly during traffic congestion, as this may lead to further worsening of traffic congestion!
3． Please drive safely
We ask for your cooperation in "fastening your seatbelt at all seats" and "frequently taking early breaks." In addition, we have issued warnings on Expressway to avoid rear-end collisions at the end of traffic jams, so please drive with caution when driving.
