4 Tohoku Expressway Iwafune JCT (Out-bound Line) Congestion Mitigation Measures
To alleviate traffic congestion, we expanded the Tohoku Expressway Iwafune JCT (Out-bound line) accelerating lane and started operating the climbing lane on Friday, March 18, 2016.
Last year's Obon festival had a traffic jam of 38.1km near Iwafune JCT (Wednesday, August 12, 2015, around 8:35 am). This year, the operation of this climbing lane did not cause traffic congestion of 5 km or more. Besides, during the Obon period Reduced travel time between Tohoku Expressway Tatebayashi IC and Tochigi IC it was done.
We would like to ask our customers traveling near Iwafune JCT to cooperate with the following points to reduce traffic congestion.
- When traveling from the Takasaki area of the Kita Kanto Expressway to the Fukushima area of the Tohoku Expressway Expressway
When joining the Tohoku Expressway Iwafune JCT, Please use the uphill lane as it is, Please join us with some space. - Tohoku Expressway When traveling from Tokyo to Fukushima
The climbing lane is about 5km long.
