NEXCO EAST / NEXCO CENTRAL / NEXCO WEST /JB Motoshi Expressway / Japan Road Traffic Information Center is in the Obon period [Wednesday, August 8, 2012-August 19, 2012] We summarized the traffic congestion forecast and countermeasures due to traffic concentration at Expressway on [12 days of Sunday (Sun)].
1 Request for distributed use
- Obon traffic is Out-bound line From Saturday, August 11 to 12th Sunday And the In-bound line is From Tuesday, August 14 to 15th Wednesday It is predicted that there will be a lot of traffic congestion at 10 km or more during peak hours (see the figure below).
Please avoid using traffic congestion by shifting your departure time before and after the expected peak time of traffic congestion. - This traffic congestion forecast is based on the past Bon Festival where the special holiday discount (up to 1,000 yen in rural areas) was not applied and the traffic conditions such as this year's GW during the busy season.

[Shin-Tomei Expressway opening effect]
Shin-Tomei Expressway (Gotemba JCT-Mikkabi JCT) was opened on Saturday, April 14, 2012. In 2011, there were 47 times of traffic congestion heading on the Tomei Expressway (Gotemba JCT to Mikkabi JCT), but in 2012, the opening of the Tomei Expressway resulted in the opening of the Tomei/New Tomei (Gotemba JCT to Mikkabi JCT). Based on the situation of congestion prediction and past traffic congestion period (GW, Bon Festival, year-end and New Year holidays, etc.), in the period that is especially predict the intense congestion, In-bound speed decrease caution in the slope or the like, a rear-end collision attention to the traffic jam at the end We are planning to implement measures against congestion, such as inviting people, arranging parking lot organizers at rest facilities, installing temporary toilets, and securing large vehicle parking spaces.
