Features of the open section

Road standard/road structure

  • With the provisional 2-lane construction of Class 1 Class 2 (design speed 100km/h), we have set up a 4-lane section that allows overtaking at two locations.
  • It is located a few kilometers inland from the Pacific coast, and is mainly composed of cut soil. Since it is higher inland than National Highway 6, it is a road that is resistant to disasters such as tsunami.

Damage situation of the Great East Japan Earthquake

  • The Great East Japan Earthquake caused various damages at many locations. In particular, where the cut slope in the Tsubota area of Soma City collapsed, we acquired an additional site and recut the slope with a gentle slope.

Measures to stabilize the cut slope

  • The slope of the Abukuma Mountain side slope is inclined toward the Pacific Ocean side, and since the slope is a terrain that is likely to collapse, we are implementing measures to stabilize the slope by using ground anchors and sprayed frame work.
