We would like to inform you about the damage situation of Expressway in NEXCO EAST business area due to the earthquake off Miyagi prefecture around 23:32 on April 7, 2011.
Since the earthquake this time, the lines and sections where the shaking was large were closed, emergency inspections were carried out, and the closed roads were sequentially released from the sections where safety was confirmed.
The main damages that have been identified to date are 44 locations on four routes and about 77 kilometers, and we are working hard to complete the emergency recovery.

2 Summary of major damage
In the above-mentioned closed section, 44 major damages such as steps (up to approximately 20 cm) or cracks (cracks) on the road surface have been confirmed.
Also, of these 44 locations, the embankment deformation (the embankment on the road shoulder collapsed for a height of about 20 m and a length of about 30 m) at the embankment structure between the Tohoku Expressway Hiraizumi Maesawa IC and Mizusawa IC (In-bound line). has occurred, Sendai-Tobu Road in the bridge section between Sendai Higashi IC ~ Sendai Kohoku IC (top and bottom lines), the bridge girder is a deviation about 5cm in the horizontal direction, we step occurs in the road surface of the joint.

3 Expected completion of emergency recovery
