NEXCO EAST /Central Japan/West Japan (NEXCO 3 companies) has summarized the effects of traffic congestion mitigation by providing speed recovery information on Expressway.
For this measure, The effect of countermeasures will be enhanced by making the customers aware of it. We will make it widely known.
【Overview】
Example of effect of traffic congestion countermeasures at low speed areas
Sag unit (Out-bound from Slope In-bound where changes slope) and In-bound in such hill performs providing information for prompting the speed recovery by utilizing excellent LED (light emitting diode) panel visibility, measures implemented three As a result of suppressing the speed decrease in the verification example, the traffic congestion scale (congestion amount*1) was reduced as shown in the table below compared to the non-measured day.

- *1 Traffic congestion:
- Index indicating the scale of traffic jam (length of traffic x time of traffic jam)
- * Definition of traffic jam:
- Congestion on Expressway managed by NEXCO3 refers to a state in which a train that repeatedly runs at low speeds or stops at a speed of 40km or less continues for 1km or more and 15 minutes or more. The length of the traffic jam means the length of the train in the traffic jam state, and the traffic jam time means the time during which the traffic jam state continues.
