East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.

NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Shigejiro Yagi) collaborates with the country (National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management) to demonstrate ITS using next-generation ITS technology (road-vehicle cooperation type) in snowy and cold regions We will carry out the experiment for the first time in Japan.

In this experiment, Expressway, our company's jurisdiction, more than half of the causes of road closures on general toll roads were related to snow, and most of them were due to visibility disorder (poor visibility). , We will consider the provision of information and the collection of information with the aim of reducing the number of traffic closures and helping customers to drive safely.

This experiment is positioned as one of the smart way area demonstration tests of the "ITS-Safety 2010 Large Scale Demonstration Test for FY2008" promoted by the government.

We will provide safety support information on snow and ice obstacles and visibility obstacles to vehicles equipped with ITS onboard equipment (for experiments) from 5.8 GHz band DSRC beacons installed on the roadside. The driver will be able to obtain this information through audio and images.

In addition, vehicle behavior information (probe information) such as snow and ice road surface stored in the ITS on-board device (for experiment) is acquired on the road side through the beacon, and the normal/abnormal driving is analyzed from the data. In the future, this information will also be provided to subsequent drivers to assist safe driving.

In this year's experiment, vehicle behavior information will be collected.

[Experiment location]
Kan-Etsu Expressway Minakami IC (Minakami-cho, Tone-gun, Gunma)-Yusawa IC (Yuzawa-machi, Minamiuonuma-gun, Niigata)
