・3 Requesting customers to drive safely

We ask our customers to do the following in order to use the Expressway safely and comfortably.

(1) Please check the car before driving to prevent troubles during driving.
Failures and troubles on the Expressway can cause accidents and congestion. Most troubles can be prevented by basic vehicle inspection before driving. In particular, be sure to check the fuel, tires, oil, and cooling water.

(2) Wear your seat belt in the back seat
The seat belt softens the lifeline and the impact on the body during a collision. Please wear seat belts not only in the driver's seat and passenger seat, but also in the rear seats.

(3) Insert the ETC card securely
If you forget to insert the ETC card or use the ETC card incompletely, the open/close bar will not work and it is extremely dangerous. Please make sure that you have inserted the ETC card into the in-vehicle device.

Also, the ETC card has an expiration date similar to a credit card. Please note that the open/close bar will not open with an expired ETC card.

(4) Please slow down the ETC lane before use.
Enter the ETC lane with a sufficient distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, decelerate to 20 km/h or less, enter the ETC lane slowly, and open and close at a speed that allows you to safely stop. Please make sure that the bar is open before passing.

(5) Be careful of a rear-end collision at the end of a traffic jam
When a traffic jam occurs, a rear-end collision is likely to occur in the traffic jam or at the end of the traffic jam. Don't look aside, try to drive safely, and when a traffic jam occurs, use hazard lights to signal the following car to prevent a rear-end collision.

(6) Take a moderate break and drive safely
Driving at night or driving for a long time tends to make you tired. Take proper breaks in the service area and try to drive safely.

In addition, please be aware that there are some cases where the wrong direction of approach from the service area, etc. has recently led to a reverse run on the Expressway main line leading to an accident.

(7) Refuel and toilet early
Please refuel and toilet as soon as possible before the traffic jam section.

(8) If an accident or breakdown should occur, immediately evacuate to a safe place.
Incidents of people being hit by people on Expressway are increasing.

If you stop due to a traffic accident or breakdown, it is extremely dangerous to stay on the road. If you inform the following vehicle of the danger with a hazard lamp, triangular stop sign, flares, etc., pay close attention to passing vehicles and immediately evacuate to a safe place such as outside the guardrail. Also, please report by emergency phone.

(9) Road emergency dial " #9910
If you find an emergency situation such as a pit or a fallen object on the road that may interfere with the passage of vehicles, and you do not have an emergency call near you, you can use the road emergency dial " #9910 Please contact us.

You can make calls from landlines (NTT), mobile phones (NTT Docomo, au, SoftBank) and PHS (Willcom, NTT Docomo).

(10) When the Earthquake Early Warning is announced
The time from the issuance of the Earthquake Early Warning until the strong tremor comes from several seconds to tens of seconds.

When you receive the Earthquake Early Warning on Expressway or in the service area, please take the following actions to protect yourself.

  • If you receive it on a car radio etc. while driving a car...
    • Do not rush to slow down
    • Turn on the hazard lamp and call attention to the cars around you
