NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Shigejiro Yagi) has been proceeding with the construction. The extension of 9.1km from the Kasama Nishi Interchange (IC) of the Kita-Kanto Expressway to the Tomobe IC on November 14, 2007 ( Water).
(* "Kitakan" is a nickname for the Kita-Kanto Expressway.)

4 Opening ceremony
It will be held on Kasama Nishi IC-Tomobe IC main line from 10:00 on Wednesday, November 14, 2007.
5 Pre-event
Prior to this opening, the opening pre-event "Road Walking" will be held. The executive committee (chairperson: Mayor Kasama) will announce the date and time, the venue, and the contents of the event separately.

- The area where Expressway can be used within 30 minutes will be Large (area population: approximately 56,000), strengthening the social infrastructure that supports local lifestyles.
- Travel time in the western part of Ibaraki prefecture will be shortened. (Short 15 minutes between Sakuragawa City Hall and prefectural offices)
- The area that can reach tertiary medical institutions within 30 minutes will be newly Large (regional population of about 4000 people).

- The possibility of new economic activities will be expanded by improving access to Hitachinaka Port.
- Improves access to medical institutions to ensure a secure life.
- Traffic will be converted to Expressway, resulting in an annual economic effect of approximately 185 billion yen due to reduced time and traffic accidents.

- Sakuragawa Chikusei IC and Kasama Nishi IC are under construction with the aim of opening in 2008.
