NEXCO EAST East Japan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman of the Board: Shigejiro Yagi) will work on further waste countermeasures based on the fact-finding survey of garbage and illegal dumping brought in at rest facilities.
About the present conditions of garbage of 1 rest facility
The amount of garbage generated from NEXCO EAST rest facilities is About 7,500 tons in total. *1
The cost of this process is About 1.4 billion yen in total. *1
About 60% of the total garbage is brought in from outside the Expressway. *2

About approach to 2 garbage measures
- In order to contribute to the formation of a recycling-based society, we will promote sorting and recycling and work on reducing waste.
- We will implement various measures toward "reducing the amount of garbage brought in from home" and "preventing the illegal dumping of garbage on the Expressway"
NEXCO EAST, we will promote the following measures mainly in the rest areas in the metropolitan area where a lot of waste is generated and the places where there is a large amount of illegal dumping of waste within the jurisdiction.
- We will change or add the structure of the trash to promote sorting and recycling.

- Promote public relations (PR) to reduce carry-on from households and prevent illegal dumping
- We work on cleaning and beautification activities so that you can use the rest facility comfortably and comfortably.
