For the first time on the west side of Tokyo, Expressway (Chuo Kan-Etsu Expressway) will be connected.

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and NEXCO CENTRAL, NEXCO EAST has been promoting the development Ken-O Road of up to Akiruno Interchange from Hachioji junction of the section is now possible to open. This will connect the radiant Expressway (Chuo Kan-Etsu Expressway) for the first time on the west side of Tokyo.

9.6km extension from Hachioji JCT (Uratakao-cho, Hachioji-shi) to Akiruno IC (Successor to Akiruno-shi)

The opening ceremony will be held prior to the opening. Details will be announced separately.

The functions of the ring road, where the flow of people and things changes drastically, will begin to be fully realized.

• Travel time between Chuo Expressway and Kan-Etsu Expressway is reduced by about 90 minutes.
• By reducing traffic congestion, we expect an economic effect of approximately 26 billion yen per year.
• Hinode Town, where the Ken-O Road is open, has increased employment of about 2,000 people.

With the understanding and cooperation of everyone in the region, we will continue to promote the Ken-O Road O Expressway project, and aim to open the Tomei Expressway-Higashi Kanto Expressway in 2012, five years later.
