Comment from East Japan Expressway Chairman on this matter
East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
Chairman Jojiro Yagi
On September 29 of last year, the Fair Trade Commission received a request from the Fair Road Commission for improvement measures for involved actions such as bid rigging regarding steel bridge superstructure construction ordered by the Japan Highway Public Corporation, and the three companies that inherited the corporation cooperated with investigation and examination. However, we have recently compiled and reported the survey results and improvement measures, as well as the strict disciplinary action for those involved at the time.
This report is one of the milestones, but I think it is more important than ever to restore your trust.
Since the inception of the company, we have made every possible effort to prevent fraud, such as establishing and thoroughly establishing an ethical code of conduct, but as a result of this, as a company, we deeply remind ourselves and implement the improvement measures summarized this time. We would like to work together as a manager and employees to realize a company management that emphasizes compliance.
