NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Taito-ku, Tokyo) manages Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line Expressway in the Umihotaru Parking Area (PA) from the Expressway A ramp bridge crossing the main line. An event occurred where the exterior plate panel of the falling object prevention fence fell. No damage such as injuries or property damage has been confirmed.
Today, we performed an emergency inspection of all exterior panel panels on the bridge and confirmed that there was no danger of falling.
1 History of discovery
First Report to the Company At about 15:15 on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, we received a report from the customer at the Kisarazu Kaneda tollgate. At about the same time (Wednesday, July 3, 2013, around 10:16), we are found and recovered by the patrol by our traffic control team.

The intersection of Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line Expressway Main Line and Umihotaru PA A Ramp Bridge

3 Damaged exterior panel
Dimensions Height approx. 40 cm x length approx. 2 m x thickness approx. 2 mm (about 14 kg)
4 Cause of damage
It is highly probable that the fasteners on the exterior panel were damaged by corrosion due to sea breeze and dropped due to the effects of strong wind.
5 Response status at the relevant location
We are currently conducting an emergency inspection of the bridge to confirm its safety. In addition, we will continue to inspect parts of similar structure in the pipe.
