NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Aoba Ward, Sendai City) Tohoku Expressway has a concrete fragment falling from a bridge. No damage such as injuries or property damage has been confirmed.
We immediately conduct an emergency inspection of the bridge and confirm that there is no problem with safety. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our neighbors.
1 History of discovery
First report to us
At around 14:40 on Monday, March 25, 2013, Aka Prefecture Kazuno Regional Development Bureau, which manages the intersecting National Highway No. 282, contacted us that concrete pieces had fallen, and the concrete pieces were on-site. I confirmed.

Width of about 15 cm x thickness of about 5 cm x length of about 86 cm (about 5.3 kg)
4 Cause of fall
It is highly probable that rainwater entered due to the deterioration of concrete over time, and it peeled off and dropped due to repeated freeze and thaw.
5 Inspection history of the bridge
The inspection was conducted in July 2012, and no damage was found at the relevant location.
6 Response status of the bridge
Due to the occurrence of an event, an emergency inspection of the bridge was conducted on March 25, and it has been confirmed that there are no safety problems.
