The Sendai Administration Office of the Tohoku Regional Head Office Office held a wild goose nesting observation event on December 10, 2020 (Saturday) at the Tohoku Expressway Chojabaru service area (In-bound line).
This service area is a great location overlooking Kejonuma, one of Honshu's leading wintering grounds for migratory birds. Mr. Toshio Ikeuchi (Executive Director of Gan-no-Sato Friends Association), an expert on the activities, was invited to explain how wild geese enter the Kejonuma roost. did.
The 10 participants from all over the Tohoku region enthusiastically captured the flock of migratory birds that flitted about with the setting sun.

Kejonuma, located in Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, is a nationally designated wildlife sanctuary and a wetland registered under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) as a waterfowl habitat.
In order to deliver good scenery to our customers, we are also contributing to activities to conserve the biodiversity of this wetland in cooperation with local residents.
Keiichi Shirai, deputy director of the Sendai Administration Office, commented, "The sight of a flock of wild geese flying into Kejonuma is truly spectacular."
