Tohoku Regional Head Office
NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Miyagino-ku, Sendai City) has been promoting four lanes between the E6 Joban Expressway Iwaki Chuo Interchange (IC) and Hirono IC (about 27km). However, it is expected that four lanes will be operated for a part of the section (about 4km) between Iwaki Yotsukura IC and Hirono IC from Sunday, June 13, 3rd year of Reiwa. As a result, the four-lane project (about 27km) between Iwaki Chuo IC and Hirono IC will be completed.

Outline of 4-lane operation start section
平成28年からE6常磐自動車道 いわき中央IC～広野IC間（約27km）の4車線化事業を進めてまいりましたが、令和3年2月27日（土）及び3月30日（火）に一部区間の運用を開始し、現在約27kmのうち約23kmで4車線運用をしております。今回、残る一部区間（約4km）について6月13日（日）に4車線化の運用開始をする見込みとなりました。これにより、いわき中央IC～広野IC間の全線が4車線となります。
