Joban Expressway Namie IC-Minamisoma IC (18.4km) and Soma IC-Yamamoto IC (23.3km) were opened on Saturday, December 6, 2014. We will inform you about the traffic status (preliminary value) and maintenance effect after opening. Going forward, we will continue to sequentially investigate and organize the effects of the opening.
The Joban Expressway was opened on Saturday, December 6, 2014.
- Traffic volume of the opening month of the newly opened section ※ 1 is 2,300 / day to 8,000 units / day, Joban Expressway traffic of No. 6 national highway running parallel to (Shinchi IC ~ Yamamoto between IC) is 30% decrease (4,700 Units/day decrease) Attachment 1 [PDF: 298KB]
- Travel speed of National Highway 6 (between Shinchi IC and Yamamoto IC) increased 1.3 times, contributing to promotion of reconstruction projects Attachment 2 [PDF: 348KB]

Traffic situation after opening the Joban Expressway
The Joban Expressway was opened on Saturday, December 6, 2014.
- Traffic volume of newly opened section of Joban Expressway is 2,300 to 8,000 vehicles/day
- Traffic volume in the adjacent section that has been open until now will increase by about 30%
- Traffic volume on Route 6 parallel to the Joban Expressway (between Shinchi IC and Yamamoto IC) decreased by about 30% (decrease of 4,700 vehicles/day)
- The total amount of traffic on Joban Expressway and Route 6 increased by up to 20%
