NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture) Congestion prediction due to traffic concentration on Expressway in the Tohoku region during the Golden Week period [10 days from April 27 (Friday) to May 6 (Sunday), 2012] Is summarized.
Please use the traffic congestion prediction information and make a leisurely travel plan such as avoiding traffic congestion by decentralizing the use of Expressway before and after the day or time when traffic congestion is predicted.
1 Congestion prediction
Every year, on the Expressway in the Tohoku region, traffic is congested due to the concentration of passengers heading to holiday destinations during Golden Week.
This year's Golden Week, Tohoku Expressway 10km or more of the congestion in the Out-bound nine times in the direction, In-bound direction is generated 10 times for a total of 19 times, in particular more than 25km traffic congestion, Out-bound May 3 days in line (Thursday), In-bound line Then, it is predicted to occur on May 5th (Sat) and 6th (Sun). [Results from last year (reference)]
During the last Golden Week period [Friday, April 28, 2011-Sunday, May 8, 2011], traffic congestion of 10 km or more was 8 times in the Out-bound direction and 17 times in the In-bound direction, a total of 25 times. The longest traffic congestion occurred on the Tohoku Expressway in the Out-bound direction on April 29 (Friday) around the Adachi Tara service area (Honmiya IC to Nihonmatsu IC) at about 32 km (traffic concentration) and in the In-bound direction on May 4 On Wednesday (Wednesday), it was about 45km (accident and traffic concentration), starting from the Shiraishi interchange (Shiraishi IC to Kunimi IC).

Congestion prediction takes into account traffic trends and excludes congestion caused by unusual events such as accidents and traffic closures based on past congestion records and changes in traffic volume, and predicts the date and time and place of congestion occurrence. ..

5 Request from NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office
- Currently, the restoration work of the damaged area due to the Great East Japan Earthquake is ongoing, and there are steps and undulations on the road surface in some sections, so please refrain from speed and drive with caution.
- Recently, the number of fallen objects is increasing on the Expressway. Prior to departure, please fix the load, drive too fast, and pay close attention to the distance between vehicles when riding.
- If you notice a traffic jam ahead, please turn on the hazard lamp and cooperate with the following car to prevent a rear-end collision accident.
- Fatigue tends to accumulate when driving at night or for long hours. There are many fatal accidents, so take appropriate breaks using SA etc. and try to drive safely.
- In the unlikely event of an accident or malfunction, please evacuate to a safe place, such as outside the guardrail, and call us via an emergency phone.
- Wear seat belts in all seats, including the back seats (mandatory from June 1, 2008).
- Please refuel and use the toilet as soon as possible before using the Expressway or before traffic jams.
