NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Chuo-ku, Niigata City) will provide services at four Expressway in Niigata Prefecture on Wednesday, December 8 for the purpose of encouraging early replacement of winter tires and enlightening safe driving on winter roads. We conducted the fourth winter tire installation rate survey in the area (SA) and parking area (PA) this winter.
The overall winter tire installation rate was 95%. Many customers are wearing winter tires, but there are still some customers who are driving with ordinary tires. When using the Expressway, be sure to wear winter tires and carry tire chains, and check the latest weather forecast and road information.
Since the overall installation rate has reached 90%, this winter's survey will end.
1. 1. Outline of winter tire installation rate survey
Survey method
- Surveyor visually confirms the tire type of the vehicle parked in the SA / PA surveyed
- Investigate about 50 units at one location
- Large vehicles are oversized vehicles, large vehicles, medium-sized vehicles, and small vehicles are regular vehicles and light vehicles classified by charge type.

- Please "install winter tires early before snowfall" and "carry a chain".
We have already observed snowfall in Niigata prefecture this year, and we are about to enter the full-scale snowfall season. It is very dangerous to drive on snowy roads without winter tires installed, so if you have not installed winter tires yet, please replace them as soon as possible.
The maintenance manager must ensure that the tires of automobiles traveling on snowy roads do not wear out the groove depth below the usage limit recommended by the tire manufacturer (groove depth is 50% of the new tire). Must be.
Also, in case of heavy snow, please refrain from going out unnecessarily. If you have to go out, you may be required to wear a chain even for winter tires, so be sure to carry a chain with you. - Please drive slowly and safely on snowy roads.
At the beginning of the snowfall season, the feeling of driving on a snowy road has not returned, so even if you are wearing winter tires, you are more likely to have a traffic accident.
Please drive slowly and safely without performing "sudden" operations such as "sudden steering wheel", "sudden acceleration", and "sudden braking", keeping the distance between vehicles more than usual and keeping the speed modest.
Also, when it snows, stacks are likely to occur. NEXCO EAST official youtube introduces the mechanism of stack generation and the method of not generating stack, so please have a look as a reference for safe driving.

The weather on Expressway in winter changes drastically. Even if the departure point is sunny, it may be snowing at the waypoints and destinations, so please check the road information and weather information frequently before going out or in the service area.
