    Please note.

Three important themes this time! !!

  1. Stopped vehicle collision accidents involving vehicles that have stopped due to accidents or breakdowns are on the rise.
Find out what to do in case of an emergency.
  2. Prevent motorcycle accidents! Drive at a safe speed without passing through.
  3. Wear seat belts in all seats!

(1) The number of stationary vehicle accidents involving vehicles that have stopped due to accidents or breakdowns is increasing.
Find out what to do in case of an emergency.

A stopped vehicle collision is an accident in which a following vehicle collides with a vehicle that has stopped due to an accident or breakdown, or at the end of a traffic jam. Make sure you know what to do in case of an emergency.

A request to the driver of the vehicle that has stopped

  1. never walk around
If you have no choice but to stop due to an accident, please do not walk around the main road or shoulder.
Expressway are different from ordinary roads!
Never act in the same way, move your car to the side of the road as soon as possible, and if it is impossible to move, give top priority to the following items.
  2. signal to following vehicle
The driver of the vehicle behind you may not be aware of the stopped vehicle.
Take safety measures for following vehicles.
    ① Hazard lamp lighting
    ② Ignite the flare
③ Installation of stop display equipment

  3. Evacuate to a safe place
All drivers and passengers should pay close attention to passing vehicles and wait in a safe place such as outside the guardrail.
Staying in your car is dangerous.

  4. Report after evacuating
Call 110, emergency phone, road emergency dial (#9910), etc.
Emergency telephones are installed every 1km on main lines and every 200m inside tunnels.
    • The Road Emergency Dial can also be dialed from mobile phones.

Requests to those driving (following vehicles)

  1. Danger prediction
When you discover a stopped vehicle, there may be people nearby or in the shadows.
Always anticipate that people may appear and be prepared for any possible danger!

  2. Information catch
Information on roads will be provided on road traffic information boards, highway radios, etc.
If you receive information such as "an accident ahead" or "there is a broken-down vehicle", slow down and drive carefully.
  3. Watch out for traffic jams! take an early break
Traffic jams often occur during traffic congestion periods such as the Koraku season.
If you find a traffic jam, don't forget to brake early and turn on the hazard lamps to alert the rear!

(2) Motorcycle accident prevention! Drive at a safe speed without passing through.

Unlike bicycles, motorcycles are easily affected by weather such as rain and wind, and there is nothing to protect the body in the event of an accident, so even a minor accident can lead to a serious accident.
When riding a motorbike on Expressway, slow down and keep enough distance between vehicles.
In addition, please refrain from overtaking by passing over the road shoulder or between cars as it is very dangerous.
In addition, the bike is exposed to strong winds in the same position for a long time, so it is easy to get tired. Make a conscious effort to stop by SA/PA and take regular breaks.

(3) Wear seat belts in all seats!

In the event of a high-speed collision, if you are not wearing a seatbelt, your body will be swung around inside the vehicle, breaking through the open door, broken glass, and in some cases, the front and rear glass, and may be ejected from the vehicle. If released outside the vehicle, there are cases of death, such as being hit by a following vehicle or being hit by the impact of falling on the road.
In addition, the fatality rate (percentage of fatalities and injuries to the number of casualties) of traffic accidents in the backseat of people not wearing seatbelts on Expressway, etc., is 19.4 times higher than that of people wearing seatbelts. Be sure to wear seat belts not only in the driver's seat and front passenger's seat, but also in the back seat. Children under the age of 6 are also obliged to use a child seat. Use a child seat that is highly safe and that fits your child's physique and the car.

NEXCO EAST Group has positioned the period from 2021 to 2025 as "a period to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and transform toward a new future society", and is making various efforts.
We believe that this year's "Autumn Traffic Safety Campaign" will contribute to SDGs Goal 3 as a business activity that will lead to the reduction of casualties due to traffic fatalities.
