- Wear seat belts in all seats!
- Prevent motorcycle accidents! Drive at a safe speed without passing through.
(1) Breakdown problems increase rapidly in the summer! Let's inspect the vehicle before departure.
Every year, summer is the time when car breakdowns are more frequent. The main causes of failure are "tire damage" and "failure to start". Most failures can be prevented with basic inspection.
If you stop on Expressway due to a breakdown, you are more likely to get into a traffic accident and it is very dangerous, so please do not forget to check the fuel, tires, oil, and cooling water before departure.
(2) Wear seat belts in all seats!
In the event of a high-speed collision, if you are not wearing a seatbelt, your body will be swung around inside the vehicle, breaking through the open door, broken glass, and in some cases, the front and rear glass, and may be ejected from the vehicle. If released outside the vehicle, there are cases of death, such as being hit by a following vehicle or being hit by the impact of falling on the road.
In 2020, about one in three traffic accident fatalities on Expressway (including designated expressways) were not wearing seatbelts (see chart below). The fatality rate is about 14 times that of the wearer (see below).
Seatbelts are directly related to life, so please ensure that all seats are worn.
(3) Motorcycle accident prevention! Drive at a safe speed without passing through.
Unlike bicycles, motorcycles are easily affected by weather such as rain and wind, and there is nothing to protect the body in the event of an accident, so even a minor accident can lead to a serious accident.
When riding a motorbike on Expressway, slow down and keep enough distance between vehicles. In addition, please refrain from overtaking by passing over the road shoulder or between cars as it is very dangerous.
In addition, the bike is exposed to strong winds in the same position for a long time, so it is easy to get tired. Make a conscious effort to stop by SA/PA and take regular breaks.
NEXCO EAST Group has positioned the period from 2021 to 2025 as "a period to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and transform toward a new future society", and is making various efforts.
We believe that our efforts in this summer's Traffic Safety Campaign will contribute to SDG Goal 3 as a business activity that will lead to the reduction of casualties due to traffic fatalities.
