The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has a snow removal system to "minimize the impact on road network functions" based on the "Proposal for Road Traffic Securing Measures in Heavy Snow" compiled by the Winter Road Traffic Securing Measures Review Committee. We are proceeding with initiatives such as strengthening roads, centralized snow removal, and calling for demand restraint during heavy snowfall.
Of these, regarding chain regulation,
- Timing: During an unusual snowfall such as a heavy snow emergency warning or an emergency announcement for heavy snow *
* In 2017, no special heavy snow warning was issued, and three urgent announcements regarding heavy snow were made. - Location: Targeting sections where large-scale stalling has occurred, such as on a mountain pass with steep ups and In-bound, only vehicles with tire Out-bound can pass under conditions that would otherwise be closed.
