In Japan's Expressway network, which is undergoing maintenance, the introduction of "numbering", which displays the route number along with the route name, makes it easy for all users, including foreign visitors to Japan, to understand the road information. I am aiming.
This time, for the first time in Chiba Prefecture, we will install "numbered" road signs on the Keiyo Road, which is an in-use Expressway.
At the time of installation, we will invite foreigners who regularly use Japanese roads to show the actual "numbered" road signs so we will guide you.
Starting with this installation, we will continue to improve the numbering of Expressway including general national roads.

About Expressway numbering
Based on the "Recommendations for Realization of Expressway Numbering" (October 24, 2016 summary with the Highway Numbering Review Committee) aiming to realize easy-to-follow directions by attaching a route number to the expressway, On February 7,2017 "Order to revise part of orders concerning road signs, lane markings and road signs" was promulgated.
By doing this, we will set the route number of the Expressway and maintain the guide signs that describe the numbering.
The Chiba Prefectural Subcommittee of the Road Sign Optimization Committee* is working on the improvement of easy-to-understand signs (improvement of English notation, utilization of pictograms, etc.) by creating an action policy for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. As for Expressway numbering, we plan to proceed with the improvement together with the improvement of the signs.

The signs numbered this time are for the six signs between the Keiyo Road Miyanogi JCT and Anagawa IC. At the sign exhibition, we plan to display the actual signs surrounded by red frames.
